This week, the fourth graders at Herndon Elementary School hosted their annual Veteran's Day Program, honoring our heroes at Herndon Elementary.
As we approach the celebration of Veterans Day, we proudly honor those who have served our country and remember our school’s namesake, Harry Herndon, a true hero who exemplified courage and sacrifice.
Harry was awarded numerous medals for his dedication and bravery, including the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, and the Combat Infantry Badge—earned for his presence under hostile fire in ground combat. He was also recognized for his exceptional skills with the Marksmanship Medal and Expert qualifications in Machine Gun, Automatic Rifle, and Rifle.
Tragically, at just 21 years old, Harry gave his life in service on October 18, 1968, during operations in Vietnam. He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart for his gallantry and the prestigious Bronze Star Medal, one of the highest honors for heroic achievement.
Today, we remember Harry’s legacy and all veterans whose sacrifices secure our freedom. Join us as we celebrate their service and express our deepest gratitude. Thank you to all who have served. ❤️💙

The culinary arts program at RCHS marked an exciting milestone today with the soft opening of Big Bark Bistro! Culinary students put their skills on display, preparing and serving a delectable three-course meal that impressed guests from across the district.

This event showcases the hard work and creativity of our future culinary professionals and is a fantastic addition to the school’s vibrant programs. Congratulations to the culinary team and students on a successful launch!
