Royse City ISD is proud to announce that 113 RCHS students have been recognized by the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA) and InnerView in the eighth Annual Community Service Impact Awards. The Kroger Co. is presenting the seventh annual Zero Hero Awards to students for taking action to help create communities free of hunger and waste.
The Community Service Impact Awards program connects student service to real-world outcomes, skill development, and community needs. This year, students from Royse City High School were part of a nationwide effort by high school changemakers who collectively invested more than 2.3 million hours of service, equivalent to $78 million in community impact, addressing critical local and global challenges.
Schools with a collective student impact above 2,000 hours of service, the equivalent of a full-time employee, are recognized with a School Impact Award. We are thrilled to acknowledge that students from Royse City High School have invested 9,273+ hours in community needs, earning the Emerald Award. Through their efforts, students from Royse City High School made meaningful contributions to Quality Education, demonstrating how local action drives global progress.
"I think the award is impactful because it builds a digital portfolio for college and job applications for students, and motivates long-term student commitment to service while showing how their contributions benefit the community, and motivates them to go above and beyond the required service requirements of their organization," shared Melissa Cox, National Honor Society Chapter Advisor. "I feel the award is successful because it allows service recognition to all students regardless of GPA, or group affiliation, because any RCHS student can join the program under the school and log their service hours to earn an award. It also connects students to service opportunities outside of our community, allowing RCHS students to make a bigger impact and develop a broader perspective on global challenges."
