Royse City, TX – May 16, 2025 – Royse City High School proudly held a special Military Recognition Ceremony to honor graduating seniors who have made the commendable decision to serve in various branches of the United States Military. The ceremony highlighted the commitment and patriotism of these young men and women as they embark on their journeys of service.
The event underscored the significant educational opportunities available to these students, with each eligible to receive up to $363,600 in educational benefits as a result of their enlistment.
The ceremony commenced with Technical Sergeant Kalan Knapp of the United States Air Force recognizing three outstanding seniors who have chosen to serve their country in the Air Force: Evelyn Haupt, Arshaud Pouncy, and Ashley Tafolla.
Next, Sergeant First Class Babcock of the United States Army proudly recognized Alejandro Nieto Leiva, acknowledging his commitment to serving in the U.S. Army.
Representing the Army National Guard, RCHS Alumna Staff Sergeant Samantha Jackson returned to her alma mater to honor Sebastian Crespin and Jared Ricker for their decision to serve in the Guard.
Chief Petty Officer Andrew Resk of the United States Coast Guard then recognized Tyler Carias for his dedication to serving in the Coast Guard.
The United States Marines were represented by Staff Sergeant Kiel Otto, who recognized the following young men for their commitment to becoming U.S. Marines: David Acosta, Isaac Zamarron, and Colton Kilgore.
Finally, Petty Officer Eduardo Figueroa of the United States Navy honored four students who have committed themselves to a future in the U.S. Navy: Will Mason Carl, Holden Davis, Kylla Ryals, and Francisco Valdez.
Honored guest Coach Jeff Gonzales, a dedicated teacher and coach at Royse City High School and a proud 10-year veteran of the United States Air Force, offered words of encouragement to the honored students as they prepare for their service. Coach Gonzales stated, "As a former member of the United States Air Force, having proudly served for ten years, I can tell you firsthand that the decision you have made is one of immense courage and selflessness. You are volunteering to stand in the gap, to protect our freedoms, and to serve our nation with honor and dedication."
Royse City High School Principal Brooke McMaster further honored each student by presenting them with a coin of commitment, featuring the Texas state flag on one side and the RCHS bulldog on the other. As she presented the coins, Principal McMaster shared, "Always remember you have a family that loves you and believes in you. Once a bulldog, always a bulldog."
The school also welcomed Jim Watson, Philip Roos, and Dave Frierson, members of the American Legion's Laramore-Osborne Post 100, who came to show their support for these future service members.
The RCHS Military Recognition Ceremony served as a powerful testament to the dedication and selflessness of these graduating seniors as they prepare to serve and protect the nation. The entire Royse City community extends its deepest gratitude and best wishes to these brave young individuals.
