Royse City, TX— The Royse City High School FFA Chapter closed out the State Fair of Texas with an impressive showing across multiple competitions, demonstrating exceptional skill, dedication, and teamwork. The chapter is proud to announce significant victories, including a Reserve Breed Championship, top placements in Ag Mechanics, and multiple students making the youth livestock auction.
RCHS FFA students secured numerous top placings in the highly competitive livestock shows, a testament to their year-round commitment to their projects.
Our gilt exhibitors had a spectacular weekend, achieving a significant championship title and several top-five finishes:
Aleeya Garcia was named RESERVE Pan American Spot Gilt Champion, in addition to placing 1st in Class 3 of the Junior Show.
Abigail Self secured 2nd place in Class 3 with her Duroc Gilt in the Junior Show.
Bryce Allen placed 4th in Class with his Cross Gilt at the Pan American Show.
Scarlett Flores earned 7th place in class in both the Pan American and Junior Cross Gilt Shows.
Makayla Phillips also successfully exhibited her Cross Gilt.
The RCHS cattle exhibitors earned several banners in their respective breeds:
Austin Garza placed 2nd in Class 9 with his Beefmaster Heifer.
Carlie Boling placed 5th in Class 7 with her Polled Hereford Heifer.
Bella Anderson placed 8th in Class 7 with her ORB (Other Registered Breed) Heifer.
The RCHS Ag Mechanics team showcased their fabrication and welding expertise, with one student earning a first-place ribbon:
Cylee Poor earned 1st place in her class for her impressive 16’ Entry Gate project.
Whitney Lines exhibited her single axel trailer.
Drew Grimes and Austin Carr showed their collaborative double axel trailer project.
The commitment of RCHS FFA members, evident in their early morning practices, led to multiple students qualifying for the Youth Livestock Auction and earning high individual marks. The following students qualified for the prestigious State Fair of Texas Youth Livestock Auction with their market projects:
Scarlett Flores made the sale with her impressive pen of Cockerel Broilers.
Market Barrows were exhibited by Haylee Staats, Abigail Self, and James Deanes.
Market Steer was exhibited by Austin Garza.
Market Broilers were also exhibited by Makayla Phillips and James Deanes.
In the highly competitive Dairy Judging competition, Cylee Poor earned a notable 6th place individual ranking, a testament to the entire team's dedication and early-morning practices.
The success of these students reflects not only the excellence of RCISD’s Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources CTE program, but also the heart of the RCISD experience, giving students the chance to learn, grow, and achieve through real-world opportunities that make their time at RCHS truly unforgettable.
