The RCISD Counseling Department established a new student mentor program in 2023-24! In its first year of operation, district employees were partnered with students across the district. A few of those mentors were able to attend the June School Board Meeting in celebration of the new program. ur mentor program was created to help students feel they have someone cheering for them…in their corner.
According to Director of Counseling Melanie Acker, the RCISD Mentor Program was inspired by this Rita Pierson quote. “ Every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be."

Board Meeting Recap: For its exemplary record of leadership, service and activities that improve the school and community, the Royse City High School Student Council has been recognized as a 2024 National Gold Council of Excellence by the National Association of Student Councils (NASC). The NASC program is supported by its parent organization, the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP). This is the third consecutive year for the council to earn this prestigious designation. In order to achieve this, council leaders and Advisor Leah Voth put together an extensive portfolio of their initiatives, events, and accomplishments that yielded positive impacts on their campus, community, district, and state. They presented this portfolio to building Principal Brooke McMaster, who then approved and endorsed them for the recognition.
