Royse City, TX – Grayson Venhaus, a fourth grade student at Harry H Herndon Elementary, has been named to the 2025 cohort of the National Math Stars (NMS) program.
National Math Stars is a multi-state program that identifies students with exceptional math talent and provides them with ten years’ worth of support to accelerate their education. Each year, thousands of 2nd and 3rd grade students are nominated, but only a small fraction are chosen, with Venhaus among the 57 exceptional students selected from Texas to join the latest cohort.
"I've really liked math since I was really young," Grayson said. His mother, Cami, added, "He is truly blessed with a gift."
As a National Math Star, Venhaus will receive more than $100,000 in support over the next 10 years, or until high school graduation, at no cost to his family. This includes weekly one-on-one math mentoring, advanced learning opportunities, STEM enrichment materials, opportunities to math competitions, and invitations to summer camps.
Grayson's parents are excited about the doors this program will open. "We look forward to the opportunities that the National Math Stars program is going to give Grayson in his pursuit of his college dreams, both academically and even athletically," Mitchell, Grayson’s father, proudly shared.
His teacher and GT Specialist, Pam Gatton, also shared her pride. "Grayson is such an amazing student. He is a hard worker, a great citizen, and an asset to our GT program. He is going to go far, and I can't wait to see what his bright future holds." It was Ms. Gatton who nominated Grayson for the NMS Program.
Grayson already has his sights set on that future. "I am working towards attending the University of Texas one day, and then playing in the NFL," he said.
Royse City ISD is proud to celebrate Grayson Venhaus’ hard work and love for math, acknowledging the contributions of teachers, administrators, parents, and community members who have supported the student's success.
