Royse City High School is celebrating a remarkable achievement, with its senior class securing over $926 million in potential scholarship opportunities. This milestone is largely attributed to the school's innovative partnership with VU Scholarships, a platform revolutionizing academic college recruitment.

At the scholarship celebration, students learned which schools have already offered them college scholarships prior to even applying, changing the mindset for what students think is possible for life after graduation, and opening doors students might not have even considered before.

Royse City High School has distinguished itself as the second high school in Texas to collaborate with VU Scholarships. This program functions similarly to athletic recruitment, but focuses on academic merit. Students and parents opt-in through the VU app, granting students access to a vast array of scholarship opportunities from universities across the United States.

The results have been extraordinary. Royse City High School seniors have collectively been offered 18,988 scholarships, totaling a staggering $926,459,252. The platform's effectiveness increases as students enhance their profiles, unlocking even more scholarship possibilities.

This initiative reflects RCISD’s commitment to ensuring students have clear pathways post secondary. By partnering with VU Scholarships to identify early scholarship

opportunities, the district removed potential financial barriers in the college exploration process.

“Our district is focused on providing our students many opportunities for success whether through college, trade schools, or the military. VU is an additional tool to help us achieve that,” said Melanie Acker, Executive Director of Counseling and Cultural Development. “We are incredibly proud of your students' achievements. The partnership with VU Scholarships has opened up a world of opportunities for them, and the results speak for themselves."

The VU platform is accessible to all juniors and seniors, including student-athletes who have already committed to colleges. This ensures continued access to scholarship opportunities for every student, regardless of their athletic status. Parents must opt in via a consent form in Family Access to allow their students to participate in the platform and receive invitations to events. The Class of 2027 (current juniors) will be invited and recognized for their scholarships at the upcoming spring VU event.
