Brief History:
In May of 2021, Royse City ISD voters approved a bond package to address current and projected rapid student enrollment growth. Along with additions and expansions to existing schools, the plan included a new, larger school replacement for Ruth Cherry Elementary to be located in Verandah Estates. The existing Ruth Cherry Elementary will transform into an early childhood center for head start and pre-kindergarten learners. As a result, new elementary boundary zones are necessary for the start of the 2022-2023 school year.

FAQ's
-
Can my student be grandfathered in to stay at his/her current school?
Unfortunately, no. RCISD is not offering any grandfathering options for this rezoning due to rapid current and expected growth.
-
How long will these new zones last?
Elementary boundary zones are subject to change year-to-year as we face rapid student enrollment growth. The previously approved construction of the 7th elementary school in coming years will prompt another rezoning.
-
Will EDP be offered at all elementary schools?
Yes. Every elementary campus in RCISD offers after-school care until 6:30 p.m.

PreK & Headstart Programs
A newly formed Early Learning Center at the existing Ruth Cherry Elementary School will serve all headstart and pre-kindergarten students for Royse City ISD. This both frees up classroom space at all elementaries and creates a unique opportunity for all early learners to be together. A Pre-Kindergarten Roundup will be announced in the coming weeks for eligible students.
