At a regularly scheduled board meeting on April 9, 2018, the Royse City ISD School Board named Shannon Hayes as the new Special Education Director for the district. Mrs. Hayes is the current principal at Miss May Vernon Elementary School in Fate where she has served in that capacity for three years. A graduate of Royse City High School, her career in education began in 1999. She enjoyed roles from special education teacher and diagnostician to assistant principal. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degree from Texas A&M University-Commerce in special education. Mrs. Hayes will complete the school year at Miss May Vernon while the district seeks to fill her position for 2018-19.

“Mrs. Hayes has been an outstanding leader at Miss May Vernon. Her campus has seen great success due to her care and attention to both students and staff,” said Superintendent Kevin Worthy. “This opportunity will allow her to positively impact families and children across the district. We are proud of her!”
