The hallway at Davis Elementary School was lined with 4th graders and their dedicated teachers. The Paw Patrol members came through chanting, “Paw Patrol, Paw Patrol,” amid high-fives on both sides, the hallway crowd enthusiastically joined in. The last room on the left is the work home of Interventionist Ms. Deshaun Smith. Assistant Principal Rachel Camp and Second Grade Teacher Rebekah Crenshaw submitted her nomination for the honor.
“We would like to nominate Deshaun Smith, our amazing Interventionist, for the Paw Patrol. Deshaun is the embodiment of RCISD JOY! She comes to work with a smile on her face every day and is always helpful with ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. She is one of the most understanding people, and is always willing to go above and beyond so that our students get exactly what they need. Deshaun is also the ultimate cheerleader–she values our staff and what we do for our kids, and lets us know how she feels about us on a regular basis. She is one of the hardest working staff members in the district, and truly deserves to be recognized by the RCHS Paw Patrol.”
On her honor, Mrs. Smith said, “It brought my heart so much JOY to be recognized by the Paw Patrol. I was surprised, honored, and humbled to say the least. I’m blessed to be surrounded by doers, dreamers, believers, and thinkers on a daily basis who are truly passionate about kids. My Davis family is simply the BEST!”
Student Council DASH (Drugs, Alcohol, Safety, Health) Co-Director Cameron Worthy said, “Many teachers show their love toward their students all day. I loved seeing the excitement and celebration turning back to our teachers from the kids.”
All RCISD campus administrators are encouraged to submit Paw Patrol nominations for deserving individuals on their campuses at any time. These can be emailed to Student Council Advisor Leah Voth at
