The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is changing the way that schools are rated beginning in 2018. The new system will award letter grades of A-F to districts and campuses based on a number of complex formulas in five domains. To give districts an idea how they may perform under this new system, the state has issued “preliminary” letter grades based on data from 2015-16. While they DO NOT count, these “what if” letter grades give schools an idea of how the new accountability system is designed.
