Continued School Closures - Issued March 31, 2020

  • En espanol

We can’t thank you enough for your support of Digital Dawgs as we’ve transitioned to online learning. The impact on families and educators alike has been profound, however, we are so proud of your willingness to work together to benefit students. As announced by Texas Governor Greg Abbott today, schools will remain closed for traditional instruction through Friday, May 1, 2020 to support national social distancing guidelines. Please note that our planned start of Monday, May 4 could change if deemed necessary for public health.

Our amazing educators will continue to deliver instruction through Google Classroom and Seesaw on scheduled school days. We will continue Digital Dawgs following our regular school calendar at the advice of the Texas Education Agency. This includes the planned 4-day weekend from April 10 to 13 for students and staff. Online classes will resume April 14.

Message for Class of 2020 Students & Families
We know how important this milestone is for students and their families and we are committed to finding ways to celebrate in a safe manner. A back up date of June 22 has been secured for Graduation if the original date is not possible.

RCISD Cleaning Measures

  • Royse City ISD has cleaning procedures in place for all district facilities, and we are taking some additional measures to clean throughout the district.

    • Our custodial partner, SSC, adheres to the updated CDC protocols for outbreaks as they arise.
    • On a nightly basis, custodians use several disinfectants such as Virex, Consume, GP Forward, Crew, and Stride to help sanitize any airborne or surface germs.
    • Surfaces are wiped down and auto-scrubber machines are used nightly to clean and sanitize hallways and common areas on campuses.
    • Restrooms will be “deep cleaned” during spring break.
    • School buses will be "deep cleaned" over spring break.
    • Walls in all schools will be disinfected and wiped down completely.
    • Walls will also be sprayed with our Victory and/or Clorox 360 Machines. These machines kill multiple strands of the flu and the COVID-19 virus. (See links below)

How Can You Help?

  • If a student or staff member is sick, do not come to school. Stay home until fever-free for at least 24 hours without using fever-reducing medication.

    • Cover your mouth with your upper arm or a tissue when coughing or sneezing.
    • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
    • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
    • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
