What if I have a question about my student's performance in a particular course; what's the best way to contact the teacher?
Email is best during the school day when teachers are in their classrooms. If your question is too complicated to be addressed via email, then a voicemail can be left on the teacher's voice mail account. Teacher's email addresses and phone extensions are listed on the RCHS Faculty directory.

How do I report my student's absence?
Guardians are encouraged to contact the attendance office to notify them of the absence. When students return to school there must be a note turned into the attendance office within three days of their return.
It is critical that notes be turned into the attendance office in a timely manner to ensure that the absences are not considered unexcused. Notes from parents (containing dates, times, reasons for absences, and parent's daytime phone numbers) or medical notes (containing the office phone number and the date and time of treatment) are due the day a student returns to school, but may be accepted up to three days after an absence. Without a valid note within three days, an absence will remain unexcused. If a student leaves early for any reason, they must still bring a note to get the absence excused; even if the parent checked them out in the front office or the nurse sent them home.
The parent or guardian may email attendance documentation after an absence to RCHS: rchsattendance@rcisd.org

Can a student's class schedule be changed?
The master schedule of classes at RCHS is based on specific course requests by students and parents made during the spring semester. It is important that students discuss course choices with their parents, teachers, and counselor because teachers are hired and assigned so that students have the opportunity to take the courses they request. Every attempt will be made to schedule students into the courses they choose. † Once the school year begins, schedule changes will not be made unless an error was made in the selection of courses that will affect the student's graduation plan.
The following criteria will result in schedule changes:
- The student is a senior and is not scheduled in a course required for graduation
- The student is misplaced in a course (no prerequisites, previously earned credit, etc.)
- Student schedules may need to be changed in order to balance class sizes or to accommodate teacher workloads
† Please refer to the AP/Honors contract for details about the AP-Honors Exit Process.
