For more information please view our website at www.eci-lps.org What Services are Offered? All services provided are in relation to the child’s development. Assistive Technology Occupational Therapy How is a Child Eligible?Developmental Delay - as determined by a team of at least two professionals will complete a developmental assessment tool using skills testing, parent report, and clinical observation to score the instrument. For eligibility, delays must be at or greater than; 2 months - for age 1 and under * adjustment is made for prematurity Atypical Development - determined by the ECI interdisciplinary team which includes a qualified professional representing the questionable area of development. Some common areas of atypical development can include but not limited to feeding, muscle tone, strength, range of motion, speech, behavior and attachment concerns. Medical Diagnosis - This includes children who carry a diagnosed medical condition which puts them at a high probability of developmental delay. Medical documentation of the diagnosis must be provided. For a complete list of medically eligible diagnosis, ask your local program. Who can Make a Referral?Anyone! Physicians, medical staff, family, schools, social services, friends, foster parents, other ECI programs; there is no requirement for who can make a referral. Federal and State regulations place a responsibility on professionals to refer a child to ECI within two working days of a suspected delay or diagnosis. Although anyone can refer a child, participation in DCI is up to the family/guardian. What can you Expect After a Referral is Made? The family will be contacted to set up initial intake and developmental screening. Depending on those results, a developmental evaluation will take place; then, if eligible, parents may choose to enroll in ECI and an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) is created. If information is provided, a letter will be sent to the referral source regarding the status of the referral. Where are the Services Provided? In the child’s natural environment, whether it is home or daycare. ECI staff strive to provide the family with intervention strategies they can implement during their routines to maximize the child’s development. Studies show that children under age three learn better from brief, frequent intervention provided by caretakers (80%) rather than from intense infrequent interventions for interventionists (10-20%). What is the Cost?ECI is funded by some state and federal monies as well as insurance reimbursements. ECI is also a Medicaid and CHIP provider. If CHIP or Medicaid does not cover your child, we request your permission to bill your private insurance carrier. If this is not an option OR your insurance will not cover ECI services we will assist you in determining a family cost share based on a sliding fee scale. There is absolutely NO CHARGE for screenings, evaluation, service plan development, and service coordination or services to children with auditory or visual impairments. What Happens when a Child Turns Three? They graduate! If there are still developmental concerns toward the child’s third birthday, their service coordinator will assist the family in locating and enrolling in transition services. 972-359-1110 or 1-877-789-8889 903-454-0300 |
