Kluttz Named District Teacher of the Year

Wednesday, 21 May 2008

Congratulations to Ms Stacey Kluttz, Royse City ISD Teacher of the Year!

kluttz.jpgStacey Kluttz was named Royse City ISD District Teacher of the Year at the annual employee appreciation banquet.  Stacey, a Greenville native, is a fourth grade teacher at Davis Elementary and has been teaching at Royse City for four years.  Stacey believes educating children is not only a huge responsibility, but a challenge because each year is different.  A good teacher does not rely on a file cabinet as curriculum but learns the needs of each group of students and finds the means necessary to help them become successful. Stacey sets high, yet achievable, expectations and will not allow her students to give up on them selves.  Her class motto, that is repeated each day – “I was born to win. I was born for greatness. I was born to be a champion in life; therefore my actions and choices will reflect who I am.”  Stacey’s vision is that if her students learn this lesson at age 10, then there will be nothing to stop the success they will encounter through their life journeys.

Stacey had an inspirational quote in one of her essays and it speaks volumes about the teaching profession. “Calvin Coolidge sums up true service by saying, “No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor is given by what he gave.”

Principal Georgie Grossman wrote, “Stacey’s love of life and learning is apparent in her classroom, down the hall, and throughout the school. Ms. Kluttz is an integral part of Davis’ visioning committee and leader of our back-to-school team, building staff development each August. As the school year moves on and the daily grind begins to wear on us all, Stacey can be depended on to come up with an idea that will get us back on track and moving full steam ahead.”

Congratulations to Stacey and to all our campus teachers of the year; Daryle Smith-High School, Jason Nolan-Middle School, Kristi Sevier-Scott Elementary, Delaina Russell-Browning Primary, David Canzoneri-Fort Elementary, Rose Antony and Ginger Solomon-Vernon Elementary.

Stacey received a $300 gift certificate sponsored by Don Barker, Balfour in Greenville and she will be honored at a luncheon at Region 10 ESC.  Ms. Kluttz will compete in the Regional Teacher of the Year in August.
